Submit a project
Everything you need to know about submitting a film project to the Mifa Pitches
Can I only fill in the form online?
Which language should I use to submit my dossier?
Your file must be written in English because there are English-speaking selectors (we don’t expect perfect English, just that the overall idea is understandable). For French speakers, a French version is mandatory as well as the English version.
Who chooses the projects?
Panels made up of professionals including representatives from CITIA look after choosing projects for each category. Several different partners offer prizes for the projects. Each partner chooses a particular project to reward. For further information, please contact Géraldine Baché.
When are the selected projects announced?
Deliberations will take place at the end of March. The results will be announced via e-mail as quickly as possible, before the end of April.
If my project is selected, how are the Pitches conducted?
The projects selected during these 2022 Calls for Projects will have double visibility: one live pitch in front of an audience of professionals at the Mifa, and one video pitch: a pre-recorded filmed presentation by you for digital broadcasting in the Video Library and which may be used as a support during the live Pitch session in case of absence.
Do I have accreditation if I submit a project in the Mifa Pitches?
No, only project leaders of selected projects receive a free accreditation and if the accreditation has already been bought, it shall be reimbursed.
I have written a screenplay for an animated film, but I do not have all the graphic material available. Can I submit it?
No. For the feature films, short films, TV series or special, you must send all the graphic research material with your project. Also try to find a graphic designer to work with if possible.
I have a short film project but my storyboard only contains 3 key sequences. Can I submit it to the Mifa Pitches?
I have a feature film project, but I have not yet created the storyboard. Can I still submit it to the Mifa Pitches?
Of course, a storyboard is required for short film projects but not for features. It is very important that your paperwork contains examples of the design and graphics to be used, to have an idea of the style and atmosphere of the project.
Can a project compete if a subvention has been asked for?
Yes, a project awaiting news of a subvention can compete, providing that the information is included in the paperwork. Please note: selected projects and therefore Pitches, should still be looking for financing to justify any interest to the audience.
What does "first presentation in Europe" mean?
Only projects that have never been selected or pitched at other European events during the same year can be submitted to the Mifa Pitches in the feature and TV series & special categories. Networking and personal interviews with TV channels, financers and broadcasters are nevertheless possible.
I have been working on my project during my animation studies. Can I submit it to the Mifa Pitches?
No. Your project should be completely personal and not part of your animation training course.
I'm an animation student and I have been working on a project for a short film outside of my studies. Can I submit it to the Mifa Pitches?
Can I submit a project if I am a producer?
As a producer (associated or not with one or more creators), you can submit a feature or "Digital Experiences" project, as long as all regulations in the category concerned have been respected. The projects for TV series or specials and short films can only be submitted by one or more of the writers of these projects. A project that has already been subject of interest from a producer can be submitted but this must be stipulated.
Can I register several projects?
The same author cannot be involved in more than 2 TV Specials/Series or Short Film projects in the same year, neither can a producer of Feature Films or Digital Experience projects.
I have already submitted a project to the Mifa Pitches, can I submit it again?
Yes, but only if it didn't win any prizes in the Mifa Pitches and has undergone major changes in the meantime.
Can I submit my film (feature, short, TV series or special) for both the official selection and the Mifa Pitches?
No. If your film is finished or in production, you cannot submit it to the Mifa Pitches, which is only for projects in their development stage and not yet in production.
I have made a short film that could be developed into a series or a feature: where can I submit it?
Can I submit it to both the Festival selection in the Short film category and the Mifa Feature (or Series) Pitches? You can only submit your finished short to the official selection in the short film category. If you have developed this short film into a feature (or a series) you can submit it to the Mifa Pitches along with all the documents required by the regulations. However, the selection committee will evaluate it as a feature or series project and not judge the short film.
I'm working on a project for TV and the internet, can I submit it to the two categories: TV Series & Specials and Digital Experiences?
No. You cannot submit a project in two categories; you'll have to choose which one. Please note: Web series are eligible in the TV Series & Specials category.

Of course, so long as proof that the adaptation rights have been authorised by the original author and his/her publishing company is included in the dossier.
